Gaining Publicity for an Internet Startup

The Challenge: Founders of e-Elections.com, an Internet startup and one of the first companies in the country to offer electronic services to campaigns, needed to establish itself in the elections market and become known to potential clients. The goal was to position the company as a leader in the field of electronic campaign services.

The Solution: We designed and programmed a comprehensive Web site for e-Elections and developed an advertising and public relations strategy that targeted campaigns and elections media, as well as the general media, about the launch of e-Elections and the company's library. During a six-month media outreach plan, press kits and follow-up press releases were sent to the national media, with a special emphasis on the San Francisco Bay Area.

Results: Media coverage was extensive, including a four-minute, primetime segment on the most widely watched Bay Area news show, and a business section centerpiece in a local metropolitan daily newspaper. One of the largest newspapers in the state published a front-page story about the business, the CEO of the company appeared on national television on the "Cybersleuth" segment of ZDTV, and articles by the CEO were published in the largest elections trade magazine. Today, e-Elections.com is a recognized leader in using the Internet to develop, organize and win political campaigns. It has been hired by dozens of campaigns to build Web strategies that help reach voters and streamline resources via the Internet.
